Mets 7, Braves 5 (10): Ruben Tejada delivered the go-ahead run with an RBI single in the 10th as visiting New York scored in each of the last three innings to claim the opener of a three-game set with National League East leader Atlanta.

Pinch hitter Jordany Valdespin started a two-out rally in the 10th with a walk against Jordan Walden (1-1), who hit Mike Baxter with a pitch and surrendered Tejada's sharp single to center. Daniel Murphy drove in an insurance run with a single off Luis Avilan, and Jeurys Familia worked a perfect ninth for his first career save.

The Braves scored go-ahead runs in the seventh on Andrelton Simmons' fielder's choice and in the eighth on Evan Gattis' solo homer, but couldn't hold the leads, as the Mets answered with homers each time. Marlon Byrd led off the eighth with a blast to right-center off Eric O'Flaherty and David Wright tagged one into the center-field seats against closer Craig Kimbrel in the ninth.

Atlanta's Ramiro Pena led off the ninth by dumping a double down the right-field line and moved to third on Reed Johnson's sacrifice bunt, but the Braves couldn't get him home against closer Bobby Parnell (2-0).

Braves starter Mike Minor gave up a pair of early home runs - John Buck's two-run blast in the first and Lucas Duda's solo shot in the second - before settling in to pitch seven strong innings and keep his team in it. Minor retired 18 straight batters after Duda's home run.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Braves 3B Juan Francisco suffered a mild ankle sprain when he was picked off second in the third inning. … Minor went 20 consecutive starts without allowing more than one home run in a game before doing so each of his last two outings. … Buck's home run was his 10th of the season and his first in 49 career plate appearances at Turner Field.
