Mets 5, Diamondbacks 4 (13):
Rookie Andrew Brown belted a two-run single in the 13th as host New York overcame Cody Ross' homer in the top of the inning as well as a three-run deficit to stun Arizona.

Pinch hitter Matt Harvey bunted the runners over to second and third before Omar Quintanilla was intentionally walked to load the bases with two outs. Brown quickly fell behind Josh Collmenter (4-1), but drilled an 0-2 fastball into the gap in left-center field to plate Josh Satin and John Buck to end the game.

Brown's clutch hit made a winner of David Aardsma (1-0), who yielded Ross' homer to lead off the 13th to end six scoreless frames by New York relievers.

Satin's RBI single off former Met J.J. Putz forged a 3-3 tie in the ninth inning as Marlon Byrd's aggressive play on the bases forced an offline throw from outfielder Jason Kubel. Satin joined Quintanilla and Byrd with three hits while David Wright had an RBI single in the seventh and Eric Young Jr. added a run-scoring double in the eighth for the Mets, who have won 10 of their last 16.

Paul Goldschmidt belted his 20th homer with a two-run shot in the first inning. Aaron Hill had an RBI single among his three hits for National League West-leading Arizona, which has dropped seven of its last eight overall and nine of 10 on the road.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Both clubs placed No. 19 jerseys with "Yarnell" on the back in their respective dugouts. The jerseys honored the loss of 19 firefighters who battled a horrific blaze in Arizona on Sunday. Yarnell is approximately 85 miles northwest of Phoenix. ... Arizona RF Gerardo Parra exited the contest in the eighth inning after appearing to injure his head and shoulder while chasing down Quintanilla's drive to the warning track. Kubel entered the game and played in left field, while Ross shuffled over to right. ... Goldschmidt gave Arizona a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning by depositing a belt-high fastball well over the wall in center field for his first homer since going deep twice against Cincinnati on June 21.
