Andre Ethier hit a three-run homer and took over the major league lead with 27 RBIs and Ted Lilly continued his mastery over host Colorado with six solid innings as Los Angeles hung on.

Ethier's blast came in the first inning and gave the Dodgers a 4-0 lead. It followed Dee Gordon's first major league homer, which led off the game.

A.J. Ellis had a two-run homer in the fifth and an RBI double in the third as Los Angeles, which has the National League's best record at 17-7, built a 7-0 lead.

Lilly (3-0), who won his fourth straight decision against the Rockies and improved to 9-2 lifetime against them, allowed two runs and four hits in six innings and left on top 7-2.

Javy Guerra pitched the ninth and struck out Colorado's Carlos Gonzalez with a runner on third to end the game and earn his eighth save in 10 chances.

Gonzalez hit a two-run homer in the sixth and is 12-for-29 with five homers and 15 RBIs in his last eight games.

The Rockies added three runs in the seventh on Tyler Colvin's two-run pinch hit homer and an RBI double by Chris Nelson.

Todd Helton's sacrifice fly in the eighth drove home Troy Tulowitzki, who had tripled.

Colorado's Jhoulys Chacin (0-3) allowed seven runs and 11 hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Los Angeles' Matt Kemp went 1-for-4 and saw his major league-leading average drop to .409.
