Yankees 9, Blue Jays 6: Eduardo Nunez hit a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the eighth inning as visiting New York recovered from a four-run deficit to remain tied for first place in the American League East. The Yankees earned a playoff berth Sunday night with Texas' victory over Los Angeles.

Curtis Granderson walked to start the inning against Darren Oliver (3-4) and scored easily from third on Nunez’s fly to right-center field. Derek Jeter added a run-scoring single later in the frame and Granderson delivered a two-run single in the ninth to raise his season RBI total to 100.

Boone Logan (7-2) recorded two outs in the seventh for the Yankees, who are tied with the Baltimore Orioles with three games to play.

New York tied the score with three runs in the seventh as Ichiro Suzuki hit a sacrifice fly, Robinson Cano laced a double inside the first-base line and the tying run scored on a wild pitch by Blue Jays reliever Aaron Loup.

Toronto had a 5-1 lead after a three-run fifth inning. Brett Lawrie hammered a two-run homer into the second deck in left field off Phil Hughes and Moises Sierra delivered an run-scoring single. Eric Chavez homered in the third for New York’s first run.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cano went 3-for-5 for his sixth consecutive multi-hit game. He is batting .625 (15-for-24) during the stretch. … Blue Jays 3B Edwin Encarnacion departed in the seventh inning due to tightness in his left upper trapezius muscle. … Hughes allowed five runs and eight hits in 4 2/3 innings and has given up 35 homers. Toronto’s Henderson Alvarez allowed two runs and seven hits in six innings.
