Blue Jays 6, Yankees 0:
Brett Lawrie and J.P Arencibia homered, Edwin Encarnacion had three hits and three RBIs and Brandon Morrow tossed seven scoreless innings as Toronto prevented visiting New York from adding to its American League East lead.

Morrow (9-7) struck out three, walked three and allowed four hits over seven strong frames for his first win since Aug. 31. Brad Lincoln and Darren Oliver each pitched a scoreless inning to complete Toronto's 11th shutout of the season.

Robinson Cano had three hits and Russell Martin added two for the Yankees, who are one game ahead of Baltimore in the division. New York lost for just the third time in its last 12 games.

Yankees starter Ivan Nova didn't get out of the fifth, allowing four runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings. Lawrie touched him for a two-run blast - his 10th - in the third inning, and Encarnacion added a two-run double in the fifth.

Encarnacion drove in another run with a groundout in the seventh, and Arencibia padded the lead with a solo shot - his 18th - in the eighth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Nova has allowed 87 extra-base hits, the most ever by a Yankees pitcher. Andy Hawkins had the previous mark of 86 in 1989. … Yankees RHP David Aardsma made his first major-league appearance since Sept. 19, 2010. Aardsma, who had Tommy John surgery last year, allowed Arencibia's homer but no other hits in one inning of work. … The Yankees were shut out for just the sixth time this season and the first since Aug. 4.
