Yankees 6, Blue Jays 1: CC Sabathia scattered four hits over six scoreless innings in his return from the disabled list and Andruw Jones belted a three-run homer as New York continued its home dominance over Toronto.

Robinson Cano extended his hitting streak to a career-high 20 games with a single to lead off the second inning. Jayson Nix collected three hits and Chris Stewart and Derek Jeter added back-to-back RBI doubles in the seventh for the Yankees, who defeated the Blue Jays for the seventh straight time in the Bronx.

Making his first start since June 24, Sabathia (10-3) didn't show any rust after being placed on the disabled list with a strained left groin. The left-hander ace struck out six to improve to 13-3 in his career versus Toronto.

After Cano singled up the middle and Nick Swisher walked in the second inning, Jones deposited an offering from Brett Cecil (2-2) into the first row in left field. The homer was Jones' 12th of the season - and fifth in six games.

The blast also allowed the Yankees to run their consecutive streak of scoring three-or-more runs to 41, which is the second-longest in the Live Ball Era (1920). Cleveland registered a 48-game streak during the 1994 campaign.

Cecil settled down after permitting Jones' homer - but dropped his third straight to the Yankees dating back to last season. He allowed three runs on six hits in as many innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Toronto slugger Jose Bautista, who has a team-leading 27 homers, was placed on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation in his left wrist. Outfielder Anthony Gose was called up from Triple-A Las Vegas to take the roster spot. Gose made his major-league debut and had an infield single in the ninth inning. ... New York cut outfielder Darnell McDonald to make room for Sabathia on the roster. McDonald did not have a hit in four at-bats since being acquired off waivers from the Boston Red Sox on July 4.
