Rays 7, Yankees 4: Sean Rodriguez hit a two-run homer and Jeff Keppinger drove in a pair as host Tampa Bay continued its Tropicana Field dominance of New York.

B.J. Upton recorded two hits and scored a pair of runs and Desmond Jennings scored twice for the Rays, who have taken nine straight from the Yankees at home.

James Shields (8-5) struggled through seven innings but fought hard enough to earn the win, surrendering four runs and 10 hits while striking out five and not walking a batter. The right-hander got some help from his defense with a double play and a pair of outfield assists.

New York starter Ivan Nova (9-3) had a string of 12 straight winning decisions on the road come to an end. The 25-year old was reached for six runs - three earned - and seven hits in six innings.

Nova got little help from his defense as the Yankees squandered a 3-0 lead. Tampa Bay drew even in the third, scoring three straight runs with two outs.

It looked as though Nova would escape the inning unscathed but catcher Russell Martin dropped a ball at the plate with two outs, allowing Elliot Johnson to score.

Keppinger followed with a two-run single.

Eric Chavez gave New York a 4-3 edge with an RBI single in the fourth but the Rays came right back in the bottom of the frame as Rodriguez belted his sixth homer for a 5-4 lead.

Upton and Jennings completed a double steal in the seventh, with Jennings taking home as Martin’s throw to second sailed into center field.

Fernando Rodney worked the ninth for his 24th save.
