Tommy Milone threw 5 2/3 solid innings for his first major-league win, and Ian Desmond went 5-for-6 with three RBIs to lead the Washington Nationals to a 10-1 win and a four-game sweep over the New York Mets on Thursday at Citi Field.

Milone was the second Nationals pitcher in as many days to earn his first win. Brad Peacock beat the Mets on Wednesday.

Washington's bullpen worked 3 1/3 more scoreless innings. Nationals relievers did not allow a run in the series.

The Nationals won the season series 10-8 and pulled a game ahead of the Mets for third place in the National League East. The Nationals have not placed higher than fourth in the division since the franchise moved to Washington.
