Shane Victorino and John Mayberry Jr. homered and drove in three runs apiece and rookie Vance Worley tossed seven solid innings for his seventh straight win as the Philadelphia Phillies cruised to a 9-4 home victory over the New York Mets on Tuesday.
Ben Francisco had three hits and Placido Polanco and Worley added RBI singles for Philadelphia, which breezed to a 10-0 rout in the series opener on Monday. This season, the Phillies have won at least two games in all five series thus far between the National League East rivals.
Philadelphia maintained its 6 1/2-game lead over Atlanta in the NL East.
Worley (9-1) allowed one run on five hits with a career-high nine strikeouts. After a sluggish start, Worley retired 15 batters in a row between the second and sixth innings.
Victorino opened the scoring in the second inning with a solo homer just inside the left-field foul pole. Mayberry belted a three-run shot later in the frame for his 12th of the season and second in as many nights.
Jonathon Niese (11-11) permitted eight runs on 10 hits in four innings to take the loss.
Lucas Duda belted a two-run homer for New York, which has dropped five in a row and 17 of its last 22 games.
