David Wright knocked in four runs and Mike Pelfrey pitched a complete game as the visiting New York Mets cruised to an 8-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday night.
Daniel Murphy registered his first career four-hit game as the Mets have won the first three games of the series. Murphy has nine hits in the three games.
Wright belted a three-run homer in the seventh and is 12-for-28 with 11 RBIs in six games since coming off the disabled list.
Pelfrey (6-9) scattered seven hits and didn't walk a batter en route to his second complete game of the season and fourth of his career.
Joey Votto hit his second homer in two nights, a solo blast in the fourth to pull the Reds within 2-1.
Jose Reyes and Wright singled in the first, and scored on Angel Pagan’s two-out, two-run double. Reyes has scored in his last nine games.
Lucas Duda, who replaced Carlos Beltran in the lineup, also homered for the Mets. New York agreed to trade Beltran to the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday, pending league approval.
Reds starter Bronson Arroyo (7-9) allowed five runs – four earned – in six innings. He has not won since June 25.
