Turner drove in a pair of runs with a two-out double in the sixth inning that soared over the head of center fielder Roger Bernadina. Playing third base for the injured David Wright, Turner was 2-for-4 and improved his batting average to .333 on the season.

Niese (3-4) allowed six hits and matched a season-high with seven strikeouts in seven innings.

Jason Isringhausen pitched the eighth and Francisco Rodriguez worked out of trouble in the ninth for his 13th consecutive save of the campaign.
