The New York Mets snapped a drought of almost two years with a pair of grand slams and pounded the Detroit Tigers 14-3 on Tuesday at Comerica Park to move above .500 for the first time since they were 3-2 on April 6.

Jason Bay's grand slam to cap the Mets' seven-run fourth inning was the franchise's first since Angel Pagan hit one Aug. 1, 2009. They only had to wait one inning for the next, as Carlos Beltran belted a grand slam in the fifth to make it 13-0.

The Mets roughed up Tigers starter Rick Porcello (6-6), who allowed seven runs in 3 2/3 innings. Porcello is winless in his last four starts and hasn't lasted five innings in any of his last three outings.

Both of New York's grand slams came against reliever Daniel Schlereth, who had allowed only three home runs in 28 previous relief appearances this season.

Jose Reyes went 4-for-4 for the Mets and is 12-for-22 (.545) over his past five games. Josh Thole added a solo home run for New York, which had a season-high 18 hits.

Mets starter R.A. Dickey (4-7) allowed three runs over seven innings for his first win since June 5.

Austin Jackson and Andy Dirks hit home runs for the Tigers, who began the day one game ahead of the Indians in the American League Central.
