Coco Crisp hit a three-run homer - his second blast of the game - in the top of the 10th inning to cap a 4-for-4 night and lift the Oakland Athletics past the New York Yankees 6-4 on Wednesday.

Crisp homered from both sides of the plate and finished with five RBIs.

The Yankees fell one game behind the Boston Red Sox in the American League East, but lead Tampa Bay by 7 1/2 games in the AL wild card race.

Cliff Pennington and Scott Sizemore hit back-to-back one-out singles off Rafael Soriano (2-2) in the 10th to set up the rally. Soriano struck out Jemile Weeks but Crisp followed and turned on a first-pitch slider, sending it deep into the right field stands to put Oakland ahead.

Fautino De Los Santos (2-0) got the win and Andrew Bailey worked the 10th for his 18th save despite allowing a homer to Nick Swisher.

The Athletics knocked CC Sabathia out of the game and took the lead with a pair of runs in the eighth.

New York tied it in the bottom half when Mark Teixeira led off and deposited his 35th homer into the right field seats.
