Bartolo Colon tossed six stellar innings in his return from the disabled list, and Robinson Cano's two-run triple highlighted a four-run sixth inning as the New York Yankees posted a 5-2 road victory over the New York Mets on Saturday.

Eduardo Nunez went 3-for-4 with a homer, and Curtis Granderson belted his 22nd shot for the Yankees, who extended their season-high winning streak to seven and improved to a major league-best 24-4 in day contests.

Mets star Jose Reyes, who entered with a major league-leading .352 average, left after two innings with tightness in his left hamstring. Reyes did go 1-for-1 before exiting, but had his string of consecutive multi-hit performances snapped at six.

Making his first start since straining a hamstring June 11, Colon (6-3) limited the Mets to five hits and struck out six en route to his fourth straight win. Cory Wade tossed two scoreless innings, but Sergio Mitre allowed two runs in the ninth in his first appearance since being acquired from Milwaukee on Thursday to spoil the shutout bid.

Granderson began the Yankees' rally in a scoreless game with a one-out blast off Mets rookie Dillon Gee (8-2), who has lost two of his last three starts. Cano followed singles by Mark Teixeira and Alex Rodriguez with a liner into the right-field corner, and scored on Nick Swisher's sacrifice fly.
