Curtis Granderson hit a go-ahead three-run homer and Ivan Nova pitched into the seventh inning as the New York Yankees grabbed the rubber game of a weekend set with the Toronto Blue Jays 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.
Mark Teixeira added his seventh homer for the Yankees, who completed a 4-3 homestand and now head out for a seven-game road trip against Detroit and Texas.
Adam Lind hit his fifth homer and Raji Davis stole three bases for Toronto, which is 4-3 on a 10-game road trip that will conclude in Tampa Bay.
Granderson belted a 3-2 inside fastball from Jays starter Jesse Litsch deep into the right field seats for his eighth home run of the season in the fourth that provided New York with a 5-2 lead. Granderson didn’t hit his eighth homer last season until July 25.
Nova (2-2) left after a one-out walk in the seventh, allowing two runs and six hits. Three relievers got the ball to Mariano Rivera, who converted his second straight save in the series and 10th this season.
Listsch (2-2) allowed five runs and six hits in six innings.
