Ivan Nova allowed one run in 7 2/3 innings to lift the New York Yankees to their seventh consecutive victory, a 7-2 win that completed a four-game sweep of the Chicago White Sox on Thursday.

Nova (10-4) struck out a career-high 10 batters to win his sixth straight decision and help the Yankees pull into a first-place tie with Boston in the American League East.

Russell Martin hit a three-run homer and drove in four runs for New York, which opens a three-game series with the Red Sox on Friday night.

Robinson Cano homered for the second straight night as the Yankees outscored Chicago 34-11 in the series.

Paul Konerko returned to the lineup after a three-game absence and had a pair of hits but it wasn’t enough to prevent the White Sox from absorbing their sixth defeat in a row.

Philip Humber (8-8) lost his fourth consecutive start, allowing four runs on five hits in 6 1/3 innings.
