Nolan Reimold singled in the go-ahead run and Adam Jones hit a two-run homer as the Baltimore Orioles continued their recent success against top competition with a 6-5 victory over the host Detroit Tigers on Thursday.

J.J. Hardy hit his 29th homer and Vladimir Guerrero also drove in a run for the last-place Orioles, who have now taken eight of their last 10 games - all against playoff hopefuls.

After winning three of four against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park, the Orioles came into Comerica Park and jumped on top prospect Jacob Turner. They pushed single runs across in the first and third innings before rallying for three in the fourth to knock Turner out.

The Tigers stormed back to tie it at 5 on Delmon Young’s three-run homer in the fifth, but Baltimore responded in the next half inning, sneaking a run across on David Pauley (5-6) when Reimold’s infield single plated Jones.

Zach Britton (11-10) allowed five runs in as many innings but still got the win. Kevin Gregg worked the ninth for his 21st save.

Detroit, which has already clinched the American League Central, remains tied with the Texas Rangers for the second-best record in the AL and home-field advantage in the Division Series round.
