Derrek Lee belted one of three Baltimore home runs as the Orioles upended the visiting Cincinnati Reds 7-5 Sunday afternoon.
Lee's
three-run drive over the left-field wall in the fourth inning gave the
Orioles a 4-0 lead. It was his sixth home run of the season and second
of the series after going without a homer since May 8.
Mark Reynolds added his 14th of the season and Luke Scott belted his
ninth of the campaign, as the Orioles took two of three from the Reds in
their first meeting in Baltimore since the 1970 World Series.
That
was enough offense for Baltimore starter Jeremy Guthrie (3-9), who had a
rough outing but still managed to end a six-start winless skid. The
veteran righty allowed four runs on six hits over 5 2/3 innings with
four walks and five strikeouts.
Kevin Gregg worked around a ninth-inning homer by Ramon Hernandez to record his 14th save.
Cincinnati
hurler Homer Bailey (3-2) absorbed the loss. He was charged with five runs on
nine hits over five frames in his first start since going on the 15-day
disabled list May 27 with a sprained right shoulder. He walked two and
struck out five.
