Mark Reynolds hit a pair of homers and Vlad Guerrero’s two-run single in the eighth completed a three-run comeback as the Baltimore Orioles again knocked off the Boston Red Sox 6-4 in the regular-season finale at Fenway Park on Wednesday night.

Despite blowing a 4-1 lead and losing for the 16th time in the last 21 games, Boston widened its lead to 2 1/2 games over Tampa Bay in the wild-card standings. The Rays were swept in a doubleheader by the New York Yankees to fall into a tie with the Los Angeles Angels.

Baltimore took a 1-0 lead on Reynolds’ first homer of the game.

Boston then took a 4-1 lead, getting runs on an RBI groundout by Jason Varitek in the third inning, a two-run double by Carl Crawford in the fourth and an RBI single by David Ortiz in the fifth. Crawford had three hits in the game.

But Baltimore cut the deficit to 4-2 on J.J. Hardy’s run-scoring single in the sixth and tied it at 4-4 on Reynolds’ 36th homer of the year off loser Josh Beckett (13-6), a two-run shot in the seventh.

Guerrero then singled off Alfredo Aceves with one out in the eighth inning to give the Orioles their third win in the four-game series.

Clay Rapada (2-0) picked up the win in relief of Baltimore starter Tommy Hunter, who left with a groin injury after pitching 7 2/3 innings. Hunter allowed four runs on nine hits and did not figure in the decision. Jim Johnson pitched the ninth for his ninth save.
