Raul Ibanez hit a three-run homer as part of a five-run third inning, and the Philadelphia Phillies held off a late New York rally to beat the Mets 6-5 Sunday.

After Ross Gload singled to left field to tie the game 2-2 in the third, Ibanez hit a blast to center field, his 11th home run of the season, to put the Phillies ahead for good. Brian Schneider added an RBI single, and it looked as if the rout may be on.

The Mets answered with a run in the sixth and two more in the seventh, but couldn't pull even. Jose Reyes had a chance to be the hero in the top of the ninth inning, but he flew out to deep center field with a runner on third base to end the game.

Roy Halladay (14-8) wasn't at his best, but it was good enough as Philadelphia won for the 13th time in its past 14 home games. Halladay surrendered five runs on nine hits over seven innings, but added 10 strikeouts.

Jayson Werth had three hits and a pair of runs for the Phillies, while Jimmy Rollins added a pair of hits.

Angel Pagan led the way with two RBIs for the Mets, who failed to climb above the .500 mark. R.A. Dickey (7-5) was charged with the loss after getting tagged for six runs on eight hits over just three innings of work.
