Tim Lincecum was dominant in pitching a six-hit shutout as the host San Francisco Giants defeated the New York Mets, 2-0, on Thursday night.
Lincecum (10-4) struck out five and walked one while winning his 50th career game. The shutout was his first of the season and fourth of his career.
Lincecum retired the side in order in the ninth, getting David Wright to bounce to third and Carlos Beltran and Ike Davis to ground out to second.
Buster Posey went 2-for-4 and had a hand in both San Francisco runs.
Posey singled in the second inning and scored on Pablo Sandoval’s double. In the eighth, Posey drove in a run on a fielder’s choice.
Aaron Rowand went 2-for-4 and scored San Francisco’s eighth-inning run.
Mets starter R.A. Dickey (6-3) pitched well in defeat. Dickey allowed one run and five hits in seven innings.
Beltran made his season debut for the Mets and went 1-for-4. The former All-Star missed the first half of the season after offseason knee surgery.
