Clayton Kershaw pitched eight shutout innings and Russell Martin’s two-out doubled scored Casey Blake to give the Los Angeles Dodgers a 1-0 victory over the visiting New York Mets on Sunday afternoon.
Blake singled with one out in the eighth and easily scored when Martin doubled into the left-center field gap off New York reliever Pedro Feliciano (2-5).
Kershaw (10-5) gave up seven hits and walked one. He struck out three.
Dodgers rookie Kenley Jensen pitched a perfect ninth for his first career save. Jensen struck out Jason Bay and Ike Davis to end the game in his second major-league appearance.
Mets starter R.A. Dickey gave up two hits in 5 2/3 innings but was pulled with an apparent ankle injury. Dickey lobbied hard to stay in the game but New York manager Jerry Manuel overruled the right-hander.
Luis Castillo had two of New York’s seven hits.
