Hanley Ramirez went 4-for-5 with an RBI and rookie Gaby Sanchez drove in two runs as the Florida Marlins held on for a 5-4 triumph over the New York Mets on Wednesday.
Rookie Logan Morrison collected three hits and scored twice while Wes Helms added two hits and a pair of runs for the Marlins, who have won four of their last five road games.
Rookie Alex Sanabia (3-1) cruised through the first six innings, limiting the Mets to a run and two hits. Making just his sixth major league start, the 21-year-old right-hander improved to 3-0 since joining the rotation, yielding three runs - two earned - and four hits with one walk and one strikeout in 6 1/3 frames.
Sanchez helped stake Florida to a 3-1 lead, sandwiching sacrifice flies in the first and third innings around Cameron Maybin's RBI single in the second. In his last eight games, Sanchez has three home runs and 15 RBIs.
Brett Hayes plated a run in the sixth with a double and Ramirez added an RBI single in the seventh to make it 5-1.
New York made a comeback attempt in the bottom of the seventh as Ike Davis delivered an RBI triple and scored on Jeff Francoeur's single. But after walking Josh Thole to put the tying run on base, reliever Jose Veras retired pinch-hitters Chris Carter and Luis Castillo to avoid further damage.
Clay Hensley worked a perfect eighth and Leo Nunez yielded three hits, including a leadoff homer by David Wright, and a walk in the ninth before notching his 29th save in 36 opportunities.
Pat Misch (0-3) again received little offensive support while keeping the Mets in the game. The left-hander surrendered four runs - three earned - and nine hits in six innings, striking out four without a walk.
