Mike Pelfrey outdueled Ubaldo Jimenez and Jose Reyes drove in the game's only run with a sacrifice fly, lifting the New York Mets to a 1-0 win over the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday at Citi Field.

Pelfrey (11-6) had gone 0-4 with a 9.00 ERA in his previous seven starts, but he returned to the dominant form he showed early in the season to beat Colorado for the second time this year. He held the Rockies to four hits and one walk over seven scoreless innings, striking out four.

Hisanori Takahashi worked a perfect eighth and Francisco Rodriguez finished off the four-hitter for his 25th save.

Jimenez (17-3) was denied in his bid to claim sole possession of the Rockies' franchise record for victories in a season. He gave up one run on four hits over seven innings, striking out eight and walking four.

Jimenez struck out Ike Davis to get out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth and he nearly worked out of trouble in the seventh. A leadoff walk to Chris Carter and Josh Thole's double set up the Mets with runners at second and third and no outs, but Jimenez allowed Reyes' sacrifice fly with one out to break the scoreless tie.
