Alfonso Soriano and Blake DeWitt hit three-run home runs and the Chicago Cubs held off a late-inning charge to beat the New York Mets 7-6 on Friday.
The Mets took a 3-0 lead in the first inning against Cubs starter Randy Wells, who allowed four runs on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings.
But Mets starter R.A. Dickey gave it all back in the four-run fourth, which Soriano capped with his 22nd homer. DeWitt padded the lead with his fifth homer of the season, a two-out blast in the sixth.
Dickey (9-6) allowed seven runs on eight hits over six innings.
Mets third baseman David Wright went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, including his 23rd homer of the season, a solo shot off Andrew Cashner in the seventh.
Luis Hernandez added a solo homer off Sean Marshall in the eighth, his first homer since 2007 with Baltimore.
Mets outfielder Lucas Duda picked up his first major league RBI with a double in the sixth.
James Russell (1-1) recorded the final out in the sixth for his first major league win and Carlos Marmol pitched a scoreless ninth for his 26th save.
