Barry Enright threw eight sparkling innings and added an RBI to spur the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 3-2 win over the New York Mets on Tuesday night at Chase Field.

Enright faced a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the first inning, but struck Ike Davis and Jason Bay to escape without any damage.

The righty cruised from there, retiring 14 consecutive batters before Jose Reyes hit a single in the sixth. New York finally got to the Arizona starter in the eighth inning when Josh Thole hit a solo home run, but that was his only blemish of the night.

He allowed the one run, surrendering just five hits and one walk while striking out eight to earn his second career win and up his record to 2-2.

Juan Gutierrez gave up a solo homer to Angel Pagan to start the ninth, but retired the next three batters to notch his third save of the season.

Arizona got the scoring started in the third inning when Justin Upton hit a solo shot, his 16th of the season off Mets starter R.A. Dickey. Gerardo hit an RBI triple in the fourth to make it 2-0 and Enright collected his first major league hit with an infield single that plated Parra to extend the lead to 3-0.

Dickey (6-4) pitched well but still suffered the loss. Dickey allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks in seven innings. He struck out three.

Adam LaRoche and Stephen Drew had two hits apiece for Arizona, which has now won consecutive games for the first time since June 30 and July 2 and two straight at home for the first time since June 12 and 13.
