The New York Yankees overpowered the New York Mets, 5-3, in what turned into a home run derby Saturday at Yankee Stadium.
Curtis Granderson's two-run shot in the fourth - the fourth homer of the game - put the Yankees ahead for good. Mark Teixeira also hit a two-run shot in the third to tie it at 3.
Jose Reyes led off the game with a home run for the Mets and added a two-run shot in the third.
Both of Reyes' homers came against Phil Hughes (10-1), who allowed the three runs on five hits over seven innings. Joba Chamberlain worked a scoreless eighth and Mariano Rivera retired all three batters he faced in the ninth for his 16th save of the season.
The Yankees did all their damage against Mets starter Mike Pelfrey (9-2), who gave up five runs on seven hits in seven innings.
Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter was held out of the lineup with a bruised right heel suffered in Friday's game.
