R.A. Dickey turned in a steady performance to tie a franchise record with his fifth straight win in the New York Mets’ 6-4 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Thursday.

Dickey (5-0) has won his first five decisions this season, tying him with Bobby Ojeda (1986), Armando Reynoso (1997) and Kenny Rogers (1999) as the only pitchers in club history to do so. Dickey can set a new mark in his next start, scheduled for Wednesday against Detroit.

The red-hot Mets completed the three-game sweep with the victory and have won seven in a row and 18 of their last 23 games as they open a weekend Subway Series.

Dickey allowed three runs - two earned - with seven strikeouts in six innings.

Ike Davis had two RBIs for New York, which struck quickly off Tribe starter Jake Westbrook. Davis went 6-for-14 in the series with a homer, three runs scored and five RBIs.

Westbrook (4-4) was tagged for three runs in the first, including an infield RBI single by Davis, and allowed five runs in seven innings.

Rookie Carlos Santana had two hits for Cleveland and has hit in four of six games since being recalled from Triple-A Columbus.
