Angel Pagan had three hits and drove in three runs and the New York Mets scored five runs in the third inning to beat the Cleveland Indians 8-4 on Wednesday.

New York has won the first two of the three-game series and is now 17-5 over its last 22 contests.

Pagan, David Wright, Ike Davis and Jason Bay all hit consecutive doubles off Mitch Talbot in the decisive third as the Indians lost their third straight.

Shelley Duncan homered for the second straight game for the Indians, but Talbot (7-5) was pounded for eight runs and 13 hits in 5 2/3 innings in his worst start of the season.

The homer to Duncan was one of few blemishes for Jonathon Niese (4-2), who has won three straight starts. Niese allowed three runs and eight hits in seven innings and is now 3-0 with a 1.57 ERA in those starts.
