Charlie Blackmon and Chris Iannetta homered, Kyle Freeland pitched six effective innings and the Colorado Rockies beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 in Denver on Saturday night.

DJ LeMahieu had two hits, and Wade Davis pitched the ninth for his 39th save for the Rockies, who stayed in first place with the win.

Colorado increased its National League West lead over the Dodgers to 1 1/2 games and ensured it will be in first heading into a four-game home series against Arizona on Monday.

Chris Taylor homered and Max Muncy had an RBI double in the ninth, when the Dodgers made it interesting against Davis. Cody Bellinger hit a two-out triple ahead of Muncy's double, but Davis struck out Yasmani Grandal on a full-count pitch to end the game.

Freeland (14-7) allowed one run and struck out eight and lowered his season ERA to 2.91. He is closing in on the franchise record for the best mark by a starter in franchise history, which Ubaldo Jimenez set in 2010 at 2.88.

Freeland also notched his seventh straight quality start and 20th of the season.

Iannetta hit the first pitch of the third inning into the seats in right to give Colorado a 1-0 lead. It was his 10th home run.

The Rockies added to the lead in the fourth. David Dahl hit a one-out liner to right fielder Matt Kemp and hustled for a double, just beating the throw to second. Ian Desmond followed with a single to Kemp to drive in Dahl but was thrown out trying to take second.

Taylor got a run back with a leadoff homer in the fifth, his 15th, to make it 2-1, but Colorado struck again in the bottom of the inning.

Iannetta led off with a double into the corner in left field, and one out later, Blackmon hit a 2-0 pitch into the second deck in right field to make it 4-1. It was his 24th homer of the season.
