BOSTON -- Hanley Ramirez's oblique injury turned out to be a real bummer for the Chicago White Sox.

After an 0-for-4 night with three strikeouts, the Red Sox slugger departed the game in the top of the 10th inning with what the team later described as a left oblique injury.

On came Mitch Moreland as the injury replacement, and he wasted little time making a difference with a walk-off home run in the 11th to lift the Boston Red Sox to a 3-2 win over the White Sox.

"I had been warming up since the fifth (inning), so I was ready to go," Moreland said. "Always in those situations I try to tell myself to be ready at any time, and that's what I was trying to do."

Moreland's homer sailed an estimated 393 feet into the Green Monster seats in left field with two outs against White Sox reliever Aaron Bummer.

It was Moreland's third career walk-off shot -- his first with the Red Sox -- and his 14th of the season.

"It was a hanging slider that he got. It's as simple as that. It could have been a better pitch," Bummer said of the pitch he served up to Moreland.

Eduardo Nunez also clubbed a solo shot, his third homer since joining the Red Sox via trade on July 26, and Chris Young also drove in a run for the Red Sox.

Boston (61-49) ran its winning streak to four games. The Red Sox have won six of their last eight after a 9-5 win in Thursday's series opener.

It was the Red Sox's 13th extra-inning affair of the year (10-3) and their seventh at Fenway, where they are 6-1.

"Let's face it -- we've been pretty accustomed to playing extra-inning games," Boston manager John Farrell said. "I don't know if that it makes us any more comfortable or relaxed, or we've (just) found ourselves in that position many times."

Boston padded its lead atop the American League East to three games after the New York Yankees' 7-2 loss to the Cleveland Indians.

As for Ramirez, he was diagnosed with left oblique stiffness/soreness and will be evaluated Saturday.

"Something that came on during the game," Farrell said of Ramirez's ailment. "Really in the last inning (he played), I don't know if he felt it his last at-bat. It was checked out and we removed him at that point."

Nicky Delmonico drove in the only two runs for Chicago (41-66) as the White Sox dropped their fourth straight game and lost for the 17th time in 20 games since the All-Star break.

Red Sox starter Eduardo Rodriguez threw a season-high 118 pitches in a six-inning no-decision, allowing two runs, four hits and two walks while striking out five.

"One hundred and something, almost 120 pitches is too much for just six innings," Rodriguez said, adding that he needs to work on his put-away pitch.

Heath Hembree (2-3) picked up the win with a scoreless inning of relief. Bummer (0-2) took the loss after allowing the walk-off homer.

Chicago starter Carlos Rodon lasted 7 2/3 innings in a no-decision, giving up two runs and six hits and walking none while fanning a career-high-tying 11 batters.

Rodon didn't temper his excitement after his strikeouts, either.

"(I was) just pumped up," Rodon said about yelling after his punch-outs. "First time pitching at Fenway, it's something special to me. It's a bucket list for me to check off."

Boston's Craig Kimbrel found himself in a jam after Adam Engel's sacrifice bunt put runners on second and third with one out in the ninth. But Kimbrel got Yolmer Sanchez and Tim Andersen to strike out swinging to end the threat.

Nunez tied the score at 2 with his approximately 400-foot solo shot over the Monster to lead off the Red Sox's sixth.

Young ripped an RBI single with runners on first and third and nobody out in the Boston fifth to cut the Red Sox's deficit to 2-1.

Delmonico put Chicago on top 2-0 with his two-run double off the Green Monster in left field with two outs in the fourth inning.

It was the first career double for the 25-year-old Delmonico, who hit his first career home run, a three-run blast to right field, on Thursday.
