SAN DIEGO -- Right-handed starter Ian Kennedy allowed two solo home runs over six innings and second baseman Yangervis Solarte drove in four runs with a pair of two-run singles Friday night to lead the San Diego Padres to an 14-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies at Petco Park.

The win in the opener of a three-game series snapped a three-game losing streak for the Padres, who had lost seven of their past eight games. The Rockies lost a third straight game.

Kennedy, who allowed eight runs in 4 1/3 innings last Saturday in his first start back from the disabled list (left hamstring strain), gave up two runs on four hits and two walks with six strikeouts over six innings to pick up his first win of the season.

Right-hander Eddie Butler allowed five runs (three earned) on four hits, two walks and a hit batter in four innings to fall to 2-2.

The Rockies committed four errors in the game.

Left fielder Justin Upton and catcher Derek Norris each had three hits and three RBIs for the Padres. Upton also scored three runs and stole two bases. First baseman Yonder Alonso had three hits and two RBIs.

The Padres scored four runs in the fourth and eight in the bottom of the eighth -- hitting around in the order before the Rockies recorded their first out in the inning.

The Padres scored a run in the first, then took advantage of three Rockies errors and a hit batter to widen their lead to 5-0 in the fourth.

Center fielder Wil Myers opened the first by drawing a walk from Rockies right-handed starter Eddie Butler. It was only the third walk by Myers in 102 plate appearances but the 14th issued by Butler in 22 innings.

Myers moved to third on a single by right fielder Matt Kemp and scored on left fielder Justin Upton's grounder to shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, who had to go to his right to make the stop. Tulowitzki got a force on Kemp at second, but Upton just beat second baseman DJ LeMahieu's relay to first to avoid the inning-ending double play that would have prevented the run.

Butler opened the fourth by hitting Upton, then threw wild on a pick-off attempt, allowing Upton to advance to third. Catcher Derek Norris singled Upton home to make it 2-0 and raced to third on first baseman Yonder Alonso's opposite-field double into the left-field corner.

With the Rockies infield in, third baseman Will Middlebrooks hit a broken-bat grounder to Tulowitzki, who bobbled the ball just before making contact with Alonso in the base path. The umpire crew ruled there was no interference because Tulowitzki bobbled the ball before the contact, with the error loading the bases.

Padres shortstop Alexi Amarista then hit a grounder to LeMahieu that the second baseman bobbled for an error with Norris scoring to make it 3-0.

Butler nearly got out of the inning without further damage. He got Kennedy to pop out to second and struck out Myers on the 11th pitch. But Solarte followed with a two-out, two-run single to center.

The run-scoring hits for Norris and Solarte were the 10th in 17 at-bats this season. Solarte is 5-for-7 in two-out RISP situations.

Drew Stubbs homered off Kennedy leading off the fifth for the center fielder's first hit of the season. Stubbs had been 0-for-21 with 13 strikeouts before his 388-foot drive into the left field seats.

The Padres got the run back in the bottom of the fifth on three straight singles by Upton, Norris and Alonso against right-handed reliever Christian Bergman.

Third baseman Nolan Arenado homered off Kennedy in the sixth to make it 6-2.
