TORONTO -- Josh Donaldson hit another ninth-inning home run against David Robertson on Wednesday, but this time it was not enough.

Donaldson's fourth homer of the three-game series, and his 13th of the season, tied the game in the ninth inning, but the Chicago White Sox went on to beat his Toronto Blue Jays 5-3 in 10 innings.

The Blue Jays third baseman hit a three-run, walk-off homer against Robertson, Chicago's closer, Tuesday in Toronto's 10-9 victory.

"Yeah, he's owned me the last two days," Robertson (4-1) said. "I fell behind, and I threw a fastball that was up, middle, and he sent it flying into the seats. It stung. It really did. It felt like I had a great opportunity there to get some redemption from yesterday, and a good hitter did what good hitters do, and he hit a home run. I can't say anything else about it. He got me."

This time the right-hander came back for the 10th to finish up the game despite allowing a single and a walk to help the White Sox snap a four-game losing streak.

"Today we kept pushing and gave ourselves a chance to win, and they end up scoring two more runs at the end," Donaldson said.

"If Robby could stay away from Donaldson, we'd be all right," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. "The guy is just on fire. We've got to stay away from him somehow. Sometimes games are hard to win, and this was one of them."

White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu led off the 10th with a triple to right field against right-hander Roberto Osuna (1-1), and designated hitter Adam LaRoche singled to right to give Chicago a 4-3 lead.

Third baseman Gordon Beckham doubled home pinch runner Emilio Bonifacio as the White Sox (20-24) ended a three-game winning streak by the Blue Jays (22-27).

White Sox right-hander Jeff Samardzija allowed eight hits and one unearned run as he walked one and struck out five in seven innings.

"We won; that's all that matters," he said. "We played great today, battled at the plate, had some big runs and had some big plays on D. It was a good day."

Blue Jays right-hander Marco Estrada allowed eight hits, no walks and three runs and struck out two in seven innings.

"I felt I was a little off today," Estrada said. "I didn't really feel like I had a good changeup. A little off with the curveball. Even the cutters weren't that great. ... I didn't feel very comfortable, and I made the pitches when I needed to."

Estrada had some bad luck in the third. Right fielder Ezequiel Carrera lost a routine, two-out fly hit by Abreu in the sun, and the ball dropped for a two-run double. It scored second baseman Carlos Sanchez and center fielder Adam Eaton, who had hit one-out singles.

"You get a pop fly with two outs and you think the inning is over and you kind of start walking off," Estrada said. "It's happened to me before, and I've just go to keep going. ... If the roof is closed, pop fly, right there. But that's the way it is. Baseball is played out in the sun. It's the way it should be. These things are going to happen. ... I've tried catching balls like that, and it's tough."

Donaldson said a fielder feels "helpless" when a ball is lost in the sun.

"If the ball goes into the sun, it doesn't matter if you have glasses on. You can have whatever you want, it's pretty much impossible," he said.

The White Sox took a 3-0 lead in the sixth on a single to center by right fielder J.B. Shuck.

Center fielder Kevin Pillar singled to start the Blue Jays' seventh. Second baseman Ryan Goins hit an infield single to shortstop and the runners advanced to second and third on a passed ball.

Donaldson hit a sacrifice fly to the warning track in right to cut the lead to 3-1.

Right-hander Jake Petricka took over in the eighth for the White Sox. He allowed one-out singles to catcher Russell Martin and left fielder Chris Colabello,
