Blue Jays 1, Rays 0 (10): Colby Rasmus led off the 10th inning with a pinch-hit solo homer as Toronto completed its first three-game sweep at Tampa Bay in franchise history.

Rasmus launched a 3-2 pitch from Steve Geltz (0-1) out to right field for his 17th blast of the season as the Blue Jays remained 4 1/2 games behind Detroit in the race for the American League’s second wild card. Brett Cecil (2-3) escaped a bases-loaded jam in the ninth to earn the victory as Toronto extended its winning streak to five contests.

Casey Janssen worked around a one-out walk in the 10th to notch his 21st save and drop Tampa Bay to 31-41 at home. Ben Zobrist and Wil Myers each recorded a pair of hits for the Rays, who have lost 13 of their last 19 games since climbing back to .500 after being 18 below at one point.

Tampa Bay starter Jake Odorizzi yielded only three hits and struck out as many over 7 1/3 scoreless innings before Brad Boxberger got the final two outs of the eighth. Mark Buehrle, who has only one victory in 16 starts, limited the Rays to just five hits and a walk with four strikeouts over eight frames.

The Rays put two runners on in the second inning and Anthony Gose doubled with one out in the sixth for Toronto, but neither starter allowed a runner to reach third base. Zobrist and Myers opened the ninth with singles for the Rays, but Cecil struck out three batters surrounding an intentional walk to squash the threat.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Blue Jays have won 10 of the first 16 meetings to clinch their first season series victory over Tampa Bay since 2006. … Toronto RHP Chad Jenkins suffered a fractured right hand when he was hit by a line drive during batting practice Thursday. He will miss 4-6 weeks. … The Rays host Baltimore for the opener of a three-game series Friday, while the Blue Jays begin a three-game set at Boston.
