Pirates 5, Giants 0: Vance Worley tossed his first career shutout and Josh Harrison homered for the second straight game to lead visiting Pittsburgh in the series opener.

Worley (4-1) faced the minimum through seven innings and wound up allowing four hits in his second career complete game - and first since July 26, 2011, also against San Francisco. The Pirates improved to 7-3 since the All-Star break and pulled within two games of first-place Milwaukee in the National League Central.

Harrison followed up his four-hit performance in Sunday's win at Colorado with two more hits while Neil Walker and Russell Martin had RBI singles in Pittsburgh's four-run first inning. Gaby Sanchez and Gregory Polanco each delivered sacrifice flies in the first as the Pirates sent the Giants to their fifth straight defeat.

Madison Bumgarner (12-8) lasted only four innings and gave up five runs on six hits for San Francisco, which dropped two games behind NL West-leading Los Angeles. Pablo Sandoval had two of San Francisco's four hits.

Pittsburgh loaded the bases with no outs in the first against Bumgarner, who threw 42 pitches in the frame and hurt himself with a pair of walks and a throwing error. Sanchez and Polanco sandwiched sacrifice flies around RBI singles by Walker and Martin before Harrison went deep in the second inning for a 5-0 edge.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Worley retired the first 12 batters he faced and erased lead runners in the fifth and sixth innings on a double play and caught stealing, respectively. ... RF Hunter Pence's two-out triple in the ninth inning was only the second extra-base hit for the Giants during their five-game skid. ... Pirates RHP Gerrit Cole struck out seven and allowed five hits in five scoreless innings in a rehab start at Triple-A Indianapolis.
