Athletics 5, Rangers 1: John Jaso hit a go-ahead two-run homer and Sonny Gray pitched into the seventh inning as visiting Oakland defeated Texas.

Yoenis Cespedes, Josh Donaldson and Josh Reddick added solo homers for the Athletics, who won for the third time in four contests. The Rangers continued their long slide by falling for the 28th time in 34 games.

Gray (12-3) allowed one run and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings while winning his sixth straight decision and moving into a tie for most victories in the majors. Dan Otero, Luke Gregerson and Sean Doolittle combined for 2 1/3 hitless innings of relief.

Eric Sogard doubled with one out in the sixth and scored on Jaso’s two-out blast to right off Nick Tepesch (3-7). Cespedes followed with an opposite-field shot to right to make it 3-1 while Donaldson and Reddick each hit solo shots in the seventh off reliever Nate Adcock.

Jim Adduci reached on a two-out single in the fourth and scored on a single by J.P. Arencibia for Texas’ run. All seven Rangers’ hits were singles.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Tepesch allowed three runs and four hits in six innings. … Jaso departed after 7 1/2 innings due to a knee injury suffered while RHP Luke Gregerson was warming up. … Adcock became the 32nd pitcher to appear in a game for the Rangers this season.
