Athletics 4, Rangers 0: Sonny Gray avenged last week's loss to Texas with a three-hitter and visiting Oakland continued its mastery of Rangers ace Yu Darvish.

Josh Donaldson drove in two runs, Josh Reddick delivered an RBI triple among his three hits and Daric Barton added a sacrifice fly for the Athletics. Gray (4-1), who had his six-game winning streak snapped with a 3-0 loss to Texas on Wednesday, struck out six and recorded 15 groundouts en route to his first career complete game.

Darvish (1-1) allowed four runs and six hits in 3 1/3 innings - the shortest outing of his career - as he fell to 1-7 in nine starts against Oakland. Singles by Leonys Martin in the third, Robinson Chirinos in the sixth and Alex Rios in the seventh were the only hits allowed by Gray, who has never lost consecutive decisions.

The Athletics loaded the bases in the the third after Eric Sogard walked with one out, Coco Crisp singled and Jed Lowrie was hit a by a pitch. Donaldson bounced a two-run single into left field and Brandon Moss singled to reload the bases before Moss was picked off first after a pitch in the dirt and Alberto Callaspo flew out.

Oakland made it 4-0 in the fourth when John Jaso (two hits) led off with a single, Reddick tripled to right and Barton's fly ball to left drove in Reddick. Center fielder Martin turned in the defensive play of the game to end the eighth when he robbed Barton with a leaping catch against the wall and doubled Reddick off first with a one-hop throw.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Oakland LF Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) missed his fourth straight start while Texas CF Shin-Soo Choo (ankle), out since last Monday, flew out as a pinch hitter to lead off the ninth, and is expected back in the starting lineup Tuesday. ... Rangers Adrian Beltre played his 2,215th game at third base, moving ahead of Wade Boggs and into fourth place on the all-time list for games played at the hot corner. ... Texas 2B Donnie Murphy left in the fifth inning with a bruised left instep.
