Yankees 12, Rangers 11: Red-hot Brett Gardner went 4-for-5 with a homer and three runs scored while Mark Teixeira added a two-run blast as visiting New York halted its three-game losing streak.

Carlos Beltran had two hits and two RBIs while Brendan Ryan and Zoilo Almonte also drove in a pair of runs apiece for the Yankees, who seized control with a seven-run sixth inning. Brandon McCarthy (6-10) was the beneficiary of the offensive eruption, winning his third straight start despite allowing four runs on nine hits over six innings, and David Robertson allowed two runs in the ninth before escaping a bases-loaded jam for his 27th save.

J.P. Arencibia had a career-high seven-RBI performance with a grand slam and a solo shot among his four hits and Elvis Andrus went 3-for-5 with two RBIs for Texas, which lost for the 30th time in 37 games. Nick Martinez (1-7) was tagged for six runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings to run his winless drought to nine starts.

Arencibia delivered a two-run double in the third and a solo homer in the fifth to make it 4-1, but New York - sparked by Gardner's leadoff double and an overturned call on Derek Jeter's infield single - tied it on Beltran's two-run base hit and Brian McCann's sacrifice fly. A walk to Chase Headley brought in reliever Shawn Tolleson, who gave up an RBI single by Almonte and Ryan's two-run double before an error plated the seventh run of the inning.

Headley added an RBI single during a two-run seventh for a seemingly commanding 10-4 lead, but the Rangers loaded the bases in the bottom of the frame against Adam Warren before Arencibia greeted All-Star Dellin Betances with a blast into the seats in left. Teixeira provided much-needed insurance with a two-out shot off Neal Cotts in the eighth for a 12-8 advantage as Andrus' two-run single in the ninth pulled Texas within a run before All-Star Adrian Beltre flied out to deep left with the bases loaded to end the slugfest.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Gardner, who went deep twice in Monday's series opener and swatted his third leadoff homer of the season, has seven hits and five runs scored in the first two games of the series. ... Arencibia boosted his team-high RBI total since the All-Star break to 16 and became the first Texas player to drive in seven runs in a game since Josh Hamilton and Nelson Cruz each accomplished the feat in 2012.. ... Teixeira, who scored three times in his first start since July 20, has 11 homers and 39 RBIs in 45 games against his former team.
