Athletics 7, Astros 4: Brandon Moss snapped a tie with an RBI single and fellow All-Star Josh Donaldson followed with a two-run double as visiting Oakland rallied for six runs in the ninth inning to even the three-game series.

Josh Reddick homered, Yoenis Cespedes collected three hits and an RBI and Alberto Callaspo drove in a pair of runs for the Athletics, who increased their lead over the Los Angeles Angels in the American League West to 2 1/2 games. Evan Scribner (1-0) struck out two in a perfect eighth and All-Star Sean Doolittle worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his 16th save.

Marwin Gonzalez belted a solo homer, Enrique Hernandez recorded two hits and two RBIs and All-Star Jose Altuve plated a run for the Astros, who have lost six of seven. Chad Qualls (1-2) was tagged for five runs on four hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning as he blew his third save opportunity of the season.

Gonzalez gave Houston an early advantage, belting a 1-0 offering from Jeff Samardzija over the wall in right field for a one-out solo blast in the first inning. Oakland answered in the fifth as Reddick led off with a homer to right, but the Astros quickly regained the lead in the bottom half as Robbie Grossman singled with one out and stole second before scoring on Hernandez's triple.

Altuve followed with an RBI single for a 3-1 edge and Hernandez added a run-scoring double in the seventh, but Oakland rallied in the ninth as pinch-hitter Callaspo delivered a two-run single and Cespedes tied it with a run-scoring base hit with two outs. Moss put the Athletics ahead with a hit off Tony Sipp and Donaldson greeted Jose Veras with his double to cap the uprising.
