Astros 7, Athletics 3: Jason Castro and Marc Krauss hit back-to-back homers during a four-run sixth inning as host Houston snapped its five-game losing streak.

Matt Dominguez and former Athletic Chris Carter also went deep for the Astros, who scored a total of six runs in the final four games of their skid. Brett Oberholtzer (3-7) allowed three runs and eight hits in 6 2/3 innings en route to his first win in four starts against Oakland this season.

Stephen Vogt homered while Yoenis Cespedes and All-Star Derek Norris each drove in a run for the Athletics, whose lead over the Los Angeles Angels in the American League West was reduced to 1 1/2 games. Jesse Chavez (8-7) lost to Houston for the first time in three decisions this year, surrendering six runs on five hits and three walks in 5 1/3 frames.

Oakland grabbed a 2-0 lead on an RBI single by Norris in the second inning and Vogt's two-out solo homer in the third, but Carter burned his old team with a three-run blast in the bottom half to put Houston ahead. Cespedes lifted a sacrifice fly in the fifth to knot the contest before the Astros turned on the power a frame later.

Carter drew a one-out walk and Castro deposited an 0-1 offering from Chavez over the wall in right-center field for a 5-3 advantage. Krauss followed with his fifth homer to chase Chavez and Dominguez belted a solo shot over the fence in left off Dan Otero two batters later to cap the uprising.
