Royals 4, Astros 2: Yordano Ventura recorded his first major league victory with seven strong innings while Omar Infante homered and drove in two runs as Kansas City posted its first road win in six tries this season.

Eric Hosmer (RBI) and Lorenzo Cain (run scored) each had two hits while Billy Butler also drove in a run for the Royals. Ventura (1-0) struck out seven while allowing two runs (one earned), four hits and three walks, Wade Davis fanned two in a perfect eighth and Greg Holland struck out the side in the ninth to earn his fourth save.

Carlos Corporan homered while Dexter Fowler doubled and scored for the Astros, who are 3-9 in their last 12 games since beginning the season with two victories over the New York Yankees. Lucas Harrell (0-3) yielded four runs, five hits and three walks in five innings while lowering his ERA to 9.49.

Infante, 6-for-8 lifetime against Harrell, drove a 2-0 pitch into the Crawford boxes in left to give Kansas City a 1-0 lead in the first. The Astros got even in the bottom half when Fowler led off with a double, advanced on Castro's single to right and scored with two outs on Ventura's errant pick-off throw to first.

The Royals made it 3-1 in the third as Cain led off with a single and scored on a fielder's choice by Infante, and Hosmer followed with a two-out RBI double. Corporan crushed a 2-0 fastball over the wall in right - just over the outstretched glove of Norichika Aoki - with out in the fifth, trimming the deficit to 4-2.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Kansas City's starting rotation has recorded nine quality starts in 12 outings, with Ventura 2-for-2. ... Infante's home run was only the second this season for the Royals, who are last in the majors with 36 runs. ... Houston 1B Chris Carter and LF Robbie Grossman struck out three times apiece.
