Tigers 7, Dodgers 6 (10): Victor Martinez belted a leadoff homer in the 10th inning off Kenley Jansen and visiting Detroit salvaged a split of the two-game series after Los Angeles rallied with three runs in the ninth.

Nick Castellanos notched his first career homer with a three-run blast in the third and Joe Nathan (1-0) received the win despite posting his second blown save in three chances after Martinez deposited a 2-2 pitch from Jansen (0-1) into the right-field seats. Al Alburquerque entered with a runner on and two outs in the 10th and retired Matt Kemp for his first career save.

Nathan, who complained of a dead arm earlier in the day, yielded a leadoff homer to Adrian Gonzalez in the ninth before loading the bases on two walks and a single by Juan Uribe. Nathan struck out pinch-hitter Yasiel Puig, but Ethier scored when Scott Van Slyke grounded into a fielder’s choice and Dee Gordon tied the game with a single to right field.

Anibal Sanchez allowed three runs (one earned) over five innings for the Tigers, who trailed 3-2 with two outs in the third when Martinez singled and Austin Jackson doubled before Castellanos belted the first pitch from Josh Beckett just over the center-field wall. Castellanos’ blast gave the Tigers at least one home run in each of their first seven games for the first time in franchise history.

Beckett, making his first start in nearly 11 months, yielded five runs (four earned) over four frames. Gordon and Uribe had three hits apiece for the Dodgers, who were held to two hits after the second inning until Gonzalez’s ninth-inning homer.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Detroit OF Tyler Collins recorded his first major-league hit in the eighth with an infield single off Paco Rodriguez. … Kemp went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts for the Dodgers, who committed three errors and have 11 through their first 10 games. … Tigers RF Torii Hunter missed the game with a left knee contusion and is listed as day-to-day.
