Indians 5, Dodgers 4: Mike Aviles delivered a tiebreaking two-run single in the eighth inning as visiting Cleveland took the three-game set with Los Angeles.

David Murphy had a tying pinch-hit single prior to Aviles’ hit to right off Brian Wilson (1-3). Ryan Raburn hit a two-run homer for the Indians, who scored 15 runs in the final two games of the series.

Bryan Shaw (3-1) pitched out of a seventh-inning jam for the win while Cody Allen recorded the final four outs for his eighth save. Scott Van Slyke hit an eighth-inning homer for the Dodgers, who had runners on second and third in the ninth before Matt Kemp flied to center to end it.

Los Angeles starter Hyun-Jin Ryu went 2-for-2 and gave up two runs and seven hits in seven innings before departing with a 3-2 lead. Murphy singled to left off Wilson to tie it and a throwing error charged to Kemp when shortstop Carlos Triunfel went to cover third but didn’t look for the ball put runners on second and third. Aviles followed by lining a hit to give the Indians a 5-3 advantage.

Cleveland took a 2-0 lead in the fourth when Yan Gomes singled with one out and Raburn followed with a two-run shot to left. Los Angeles struck for three in the fifth on Ryu’s two-out double into the left-field corner and Andre Ethier’s bases-loaded, two-run single to center.
