Indians 5, Royals 1: Asdrubal Cabrera recorded two hits and two RBIs while Corey Kluber pitched his first career complete game as Cleveland defeated visiting Kansas City to take three of four in the series.

Cabrera and David Murphy each knocked in a pair of runs while Michael Brantley had the other RBI as the Indians scored five times in the fifth – their highest-scoring inning of the season. Kluber (2-2) gave up one unearned run on four hits and did not walk a batter while striking out a career-best 11.

Jarrod Dyson registered two hits for the Royals, who scored an unearned run on first baseman Nick Swisher’s error in the seventh. Kansas City starter Bruce Chen (1-2) was strong early, but yielded five runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings to lose against the Indians for only the second time in nine decisions since 2010.

Chen allowed only one hit through four innings before Carlos Santana snapped an 0-for-16 slump with a double to lead off the fifth and scored on Brantley’s single. The Indians loaded the bases and Murphy slapped a two-run single down the left-field line before Cabrera’s two-run double made it 5-0.

Cabrera was thrown out at the plate on a 3-2 double play to end the top of the first and Dyson was stranded at third base in the third. Alcides Escobar singled with two outs in the fifth for the Royals, but was thrown out by Brantley while trying to reach third on Dyson’s single to center field.
