Cardinals 6, Cubs 4: Matt Carpenter drove in three runs and Michael Wacha worked into the seventh inning as host St. Louis took two of three from Chicago.

Kolten Wong and Jhonny Peralta had two hits and an RBI apiece for the Cardinals, who won four of six in their first homestand of the year. Wacha (2-0) allowed three runs and five hits while striking out eight in 6 1/3 innings, and Trevor Rosenthal gave up a run-scoring single to Mike Olt in the ninth before locking up his fourth save.

After Justin Ruggiano singled with one out in the first, Rizzo cranked the first pitch he saw from Wacha over the wall in right for his second home run of the year. Carpenter delivered the equalizer with a two-run single in the second and then stole a base before coming in on Wong's base hit to give the Cardinals a 3-2 lead.

Welington Castillo's RBI single knotted it in the top of the fourth but Peter Bourjos led off the St. Louis half of the frame with a triple and Carpenter pushed him home with a sacrifice fly to left. Kevin Siegrist worked 1 2/3 perfect frames out of the Cardinals bullpen and Peralta's RBI double highlighted a two-run rally in the eighth that made it 6-3.
