White Sox 3, Tigers 1: Jose Abreu and Dayan Viciedo delivered RBI doubles in a three-run seventh and John Danks pitched 6 1/3 effective innings to lead visiting Chicago.

Danks (2-0) allowed one run and six hits to help the White Sox prevail for only the eighth time in their last 32 tries at Comerica Park. Ronald Belisario escaped a two-on, one-out jam in the seventh during his 1 2/3 innings and Matt Lindstrom yielded a double and walk with one out in the ninth before earning his second save in five chances.

Anibal Sanchez (0-2) allowed one hit through six innings before yielding three runs and four hits while recording one out in the seventh in his longest outing of the season. Alex Avila recorded an RBI groundout and Torii Hunter had two hits for Detroit, which loaded the bases with none out in the second, but scored only once.

Conor Gillaspie led off the seventh with a double and after Abreu delivered a two-base hit that bounced off the right-field foul line and into the stands, Viciedo doubled off the wall in center two batters later. Ramirez singled to left, with Viciedo scoring on a throwing error by left fielder Rajai Davis after originally being called out.

The Tigers seemed poised for a big inning after Hunter singled, and Austin Jackson and Nick Castellanos walked to begin the second. Danks, though, escaped serious damage by allowing Avila's RBI groundout, getting Andrew Romine to foul out and retiring Davis on a pop-up to second.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Abreu's double was upheld after a replay challenge by Detroit manager Brad Ausmus while Chicago manager Robin Ventura correctly challenged Viciedo's play at the plate after losing one in the fourth inning on Castellanos' infield single. ... Chicago is 6-5 in a stretch where it plays 23 straight games against teams with winning records in 2013. ... Danks has recorded four consecutive quality starts to begin the season.
