Phillies 4, Diamondbacks 2:
Ryan Howard slammed a two-run homer and scored the tiebreaking run on an overturned call at the plate as host Philadelphia took the rubber match of the three-game set.

Roberto Hernandez (5-8) allowed two runs and four hits over seven innings to help the Phillies win their first series at home since sweeping San Diego from June 10-12. Jonathan Papelbon surrendered a pair of singles in the ninth before inducing a double-play grounder to notch his 25th save.

Nick Ahmed delivered an RBI double and Paul Goldschmidt had a sacrifice fly for the Diamondbacks, who were seeking their first series win in Philadelphia since May 2007. Left-hander Vidal Nuno (2-7) was reached for four runs - two earned - on four hits in 6 2/3 innings.

Howard, who was benched for three straight games earlier in the week, followed Chase Utley's two-out walk in the first inning with a blast into the seats in left-center field for his 16th homer. The Diamondbacks tied it on Ahmed's two-out RBI double in the second and Goldschmidt's sacrifice fly in the sixth that plated Ender Inciarte.

Howard drew a two-out walk in the bottom of the sixth and appeared to be stranded when Marlon Byrd popped out to short right, but Didi Gregorius dropped the ball and it caromed to center fielder Inciarte, who fired a strike home that beat Howard by nearly 10 feet. Miguel Montero tagged out Howard but the catcher was ruled to have blocked the plate, allowing the go-ahead run to score for a 3-2 lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Howard homered for only the second time in 30 games and recorded his first blast at Citizens Bank Park since June 1. ... Diamondbacks 2B Aaron Hill, riding a 10-game hitting streak, was not in the lineup due to a bruised right hand after being hit by a pitch in Saturday's game. ... The Phillies kick off a seven-game road trip at the New York Mets on Monday night while Arizona opens a three-game series at Cincinnati on Monday.
