Phillies 4, Royals 3:
Pinch hitter Kevin Frandsen ripped a bases-clearing walk-off double with two outs in the ninth inning to lift Philadelphia to a dramatic victory.

Kansas City closer Greg Holland walked the bases loaded in the ninth before striking out Domonic Brown and John Mayberry, but Frandsen, who was hitting for catcher Humberto Quintero, lined the first pitch he saw into the gap in right-center field to drive in three and set off a raucous scene at Citizens Bank Park.

The rally made a winner of Antonio Bastardo (1-0), the second Phillies reliever behind John Lannan, who gave up three runs on five hits in seven innings in his debut with the club. Holland's blown save spoiled a solid effort by Royals starter Luis Mendoza, who yielded a run on two singles in six frames.

Kansas City's Miguel Tejada had an RBI groundout in a two-run fifth and hit a run-scoring double in the seventh to give the Royals a 3-1 advantage. After Mendoza left, two relievers each tossed a perfect inning to give the Kansas City bullpen seven scoreless innings in the series to that point.

However, Holland walked Chase Utley, Ryan Howard and Michael Young to begin the bottom of the ninth. Holland made Brown and Mayberry look bad before Frandsen turned his first at-bat of the 2013 season into a memorable one.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Ben Revere had an RBI single in the fifth to give the Phillies their first run. ... Tejada was making his first start since Aug. 26, 2011, when he was a member of the San Francisco Giants. ... Dating to the end of last season, Holland has three blown saves in his last 10 appearances.
