Dodgers 7, Rays 6: Closer Fernando Rodney threw wildly past second base, allowing the winning run to score as host Los Angeles stunned Tampa Bay with a four-run ninth inning.

The Dodgers, who trailed 6-0 after 6 1/2 innings, got an RBI triple from Mark Ellis and a run-scoring double by Nick Punto with one out in the ninth before Adrian Gonzalez doubled down the right-field line to tie it at 6-6. After intentionally walking Yasiel Puig, Rodney (4-3) induced a comebacker from Jerry Hairston Jr. but threw the ball into center field as Gonzalez raced home with the winning run.

Ellis had three hits while Puig, Punto, Juan Uribe and Skip Schumaker each had two and an RBI as Los Angeles won its third straight and improved to 18-3 since the All-Star break to maintain its 5 1/2-game lead over Arizona atop the National League West. Ronald Belisario (5-6) pitched a scoreless top of the ninth.

Yunel Escobar had two hits and three RBIs while former Dodger James Loney recorded three hits and drove in two runs for Tampa Bay, which lost its third straight and remained two games behind first-place Boston in the AL East. The Rays wasted a stellar performance by ace David Price, who gave up an unearned run over seven innings.

Schumaker spoiled Price's shutout bid with a two-out RBI double in the seventh before the Dodgers added two runs in the eighth on Puig's RBI ground-rule double and Uribe's run-scoring single. Puig ran his hitting streak to eight games and lifted his average to .379.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rays RHP Chris Archer, who left Wednesday's start due to tightness in his forearm, said Friday that everything felt normal and he expects to make his next start on Tuesday. ... Dodgers SS Hanley Ramirez (shoulder) was out of the starting lineup for the fifth straight game but struck out as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning. ... Tampa Bay designated RHP Kyle Farnsworth for assignment and called up RHP Josh Lueke from Triple-A Durham.
