Eric Young Jr. and Carlos Gonzalez had three hits each and Tulowitzki, Dexter Fowler and Josh Rutledge hit solo homers to lead the offense. Jon Garland (2-0) became the first Rockies starter to pitch seven innings this season, needing just 84 pitches while allowing two runs and six hits.

David Wright had a pair of one-out, run-scoring singles for the Mets, who finished 3-5 on their weather-hampered trip. New York starter Jonathon Niese (2-1) threw six innings and allowed three runs and nine hits while losing for the first time in his last seven starts.

Tulowitzki broke a 2-2 tie with an RBI single in the sixth that drove home Gonzalez, who had led off with a double. Colorado gave Garland some cushion by scoring six runs with two outs in the seventh, two coming home on a bases-loaded single by Rosario followed by Helton’s two-run double for a 7-2 lead.

In between the RBI singles by Wright, Gonzalez delivered a run-scoring single in the first inning for the Rockies and Rutledge hit a solo homer in the fourth to give them a 2-1 lead.
